The basic aim of UCAB's training activities is to prepare the advisers and managers of CABs to their work and ensure continuous development of their competence.

Basic training of candidates for advisers

“ Basic advising skills”

The aim of this training is to prepare our advisers for their work. After the training, the participants know what is citizen advice, what are the standards of CABs and principles of giving citizen advice, they know how to conduct an advisory interview in accordance with adopted model, and how to fill in and protect documentation of a client.

Content-related training for new advisers

“Basics of law for advisers or what each CAB adviser should know”

During the training, new advisers are provided with the knowledge on labour law and unemployment, social welfare, family law, administrative law, domestic and international legal systems, special institutions (the Ombudsman, the Constitutional Tribunal). After completion of the training they know what are sources of law, what is their hierarchy, they know institutions established for protection of rights, and procedures which given institutions have to follow.

Training in basics of for candidates for and new managers of CABs

“ Basics of management of CAB or what each CAB adviser should know”
The aim of this training is preparation on new CAB managers to organisation and management of a CAB.
The participants are taught how to build strategies and how to effectively manage an organisation. They learn to manage human resources, services, quality, and information.

Training of the team of trainers

Workshops for the team of trainers are devoted – depending on the needs – to: improvement of competence of the team, work on new training modules, or evaluation of work of the team. This year the workshop was devoted to evaluation of training in management, addressed to new managers of CABs. As a result o the evaluation, we introduced changes of schemes in particular modules and relevant changes in training materials.
After the training all participants receives certificates together with training materials.
We use various methods of training during sessions, depending on the needs there are lectures, workshops, study cases, presentations. We also take advantage of new technology, computers, electronic database, multimedia programmes. During the training sessions we check the knowledge obtained by the participants.

The team of trainers

UCAB’s team of trainers conducts all trainings offered by UCAB. The team was established in 1998 and was recruited from among advisers and managers of existing CABs The trainers undergo trainings conduct by Polish and British experts.

Currently, the team consists of  8 persons. Within the team, there are 3 workgroups: advisory group (all trainers), content related group (authors of programme of legal training), and management group (authors of programme in management).

External experts conduct trainings that answer current needs of CAB and reach beyond our offer.
